Under the legislation, the Environment Protection (Water Quality) Policy you may be fined for washing your car on the street or on a paved or concrete driveway if you allow any wastewater or detergents to run into the stormwater drain. Ideally, you should wash your car on a grassed or gravel area which allows the water to soak into the ground.
Alternatively you could use a commercial car wash which directs wastewater to the sewer. If you require further information see the stormwater management pages under environmental info on the EPA website Stormwater management
