As outlined in the Environment Protection Authority Code of Practice for Vessels on Inland Waters, all power craft should be properly maintained and speed limits observed so that emissions both to the atmosphere and to water are minimised. However it is an offence to allow fuel or oil to spill into a watercourse and portable fuel tanks and spare fuel containers should be filled away from the water s edge and never overfilled.
